Unit Synopsis: In this unit, students view a news story of the local TV meteorologist explaining how he uses a supercomputer to help make his weather forecasts.  Students wonder what information the supercomputer uses and investigate the weather and climate inputs and outputs used in weather forecasting models.

Anchoring Phenomenon: Meteorologists use supercomputers that track atmospheric conditions and long-term climate patterns to create weather forecasts.
